I'm not technical enough to decide which one of these bags is best!
Can anyone help?

the extra weight + $ is only worth it if you need the water proof/breathable shell, I find a separate light bivy sack to be a more versatile / efficient way to go

I'm of Gearge's opinion.

70 bucks plus 5 ounces is something to balance against the "security" of waterproof/breathable outer covering. Here in the Smokys we laugh at the claim of "waterproof" because any trip of more than two days is likely to see significant rainfall and I have yet to find something other than a bullfrog that wont get wet in these mountains. I would save the green and the weight and get the reg.

I faced the same choice and chose the EQ. Not sorry I did. I do a lot of hiking and prefer to sleep dry. Keeping the bag dry in the tent is always an objective, but also keeping it from getting wet in the pack and moving it into and out of the pack. I like down bags and I like to keep em dry. Hope this helps.

If you want to choose something different, the Montbell UL down hugger is excellent and I found the out shell sheds water nicely.

How about purchasing the regular bag and then coat it with waterproofing spray? I'm asking because I got the regular bag and am thinking about doing this. I wanted the waterproof coating, but wasn't willing to carry the extra weight to get it. What do you guys think?

i'd be worried about a 'waterproof' coating on my bag causing me to sweat inside due to condensation, and then getting cold :(
