No it's a real shame but most use the pct-l or the cdt-l
They are horrible forums because they jam up your mailbox with every post, very difficult to maintain a flow on thread subjects and it's nothing like the ease of whiteblaze.

I don't understand why someone doesn't do a proper forum for these two great trails.

I agree Fiddlehead, pct-l is a pain.

Actually, the website listed above http://adventureonthepct.com/ uses the same software as whiteblaze, but the traffic on the site is very, very low....not sure why.

It's a nice site, but, as you say, gets very little traffic. Probably because the PCT has 10% of the starters that the AT gets every year, and has less than 1% of the number of people for whom a thru-hike is the Holy Grail of lifetime goals.

The AT has a longer history, more books and articles written about it, and has entered the dreams of a lot more people. The AT is also very doable for section-hikers, even ones with modest annual vacations, and many section-hikers come to Whiteblaze for information.

NationalScenicTrails.com is getting ready to go live. They've been working for months to gather info for all the National Scenic Trails and their site will also feature a forum similar to WhiteBlaze. The site will (hopefully) be live by the end of Sept. '09.

I only know this because I'm the guy they hired to do their programming.

Maybe that's a good thing. Historically, people moved out west to get "away from everything", so perhaps it is best to leave the PCT to those individuals who so earnestly seek the seclusion they find out there.

The PCT is no secret nor should it be. The more people who hike the trail equates into greater advocacy to protect it.

That is a nonsensical argument. The PCT has had for many years now sufficient justification as a national trail as to warrent it's existence by the [url=http://www.fs.fed.us/pct/]fed[url].

Promoting increasing useage of the PCT does absolutely nothing to protect the trail, but only serves to dilute the experience which differentiates the PCT from other more popular trails, such as the AT.

No, I mean NationalScenicTrails.com that covers all the NST's, provides access to hiker info, and forums so that hikers who are experienced on those trails can help and provide feedback to people who need advice on how to proceed with their hike.

Just think where the AT would be if Myron Avery had been the last 2000 miler!
