Hi - I know this is a ridicuous question but here goes: I have seam sealed my tent and now I want to know if I should seam the fly as well.

As always any input would be greatly appreciated;)

Technically, you don't need to, but doing so can provide a slight improvement in heavy rains. If it's a full fly (i.e. covers almost all of your tent) that can prevent some water from getting to the tent fabric or screening, and help keep you a bit dryer. In terms of weight, you might add as much as 1 oz., I would think. I seal the fly on my tent.

Not knowing your tent precludes an intelligent answer, but I'd have sealed the fly, not the tent.

If it is a new, recent Q-Dome, It is already hot taped on all major seams. Nothing else needed.

Yep. You're just adding weight to a lightweight tent. Wait 'till you get a few drips is a good rule of thumb. If it happens within a month, take the tent back. Usually factory seam taping is good for over a year.
