Just wanting to know typical weather in late October. Im hiking from winding stair gap to Fontana dam. TY

My last three years in a row October week-long hikes have been filled with more warmer weather than I cared for. One year didn't even put on a jacket at night until the last night of the hike.
But check several weather sources a couple of days before you set out and you'll have a fair idea of what you're in store for and plan accordingly. This far out . . . mentally prepare for cold weather conditions, especially nights and likely mild daytime temps.
