Well I was doing a morning hike in the flat lands in Illinios and I caught my self talking to my myself. Well do you sometimes on those long hikes? I have heard it's bad when you start answering yourself.:D HA! HA!

Answering's ok. It's when you start arguing aloud with yourself that you need to worry.

We argue with ourselves all the time. We weren't aware this was a cause for concern. We'll have to discuss this...

Hey, how come the voices are talking to you?!?

Of course I talk to myself, I do it all the time. Sometimes I talk to people I know when I am by myself, and they (the them in my mind) talks back to me, and we carry on a conversation.

It's perfectly normal. :D

Talking to myself ensures the answers that I want to hear.:D

I sometimes do not give myself the answers I want leading to further discussion. It's all good.

I only have problems when I don't understand myself. :D

When you do not understand you try singing silly songs. That will keep you occupied until conversation returns.

I think this is more common while hiking in winter. Less "other" people and shorter days so more time in camp....

I talk to myself all the time while hiking. It's the most intelligent conversation I have.

The voices come out as singing while I hike....it's at home when you need to be nervous. Usually their saying things like stay home and sharpen the knives:D

All serious though...I sing on the trail sometimes. And it's bad

It usually is only a problem when other hikers or the wildlife think I'm talking to them.

I usually talk to myself when doing a long uphill. . . I say things like "you can do this." and "You have to get to the top of this hill. . . then you can sit." Sometimes there are swear words between the sentences. : 0

I talk to myself all the time when I'm hiking. I find that not only am I a really good listener, but I'm also incredibly interesting.

Talking to yourself?

Ever hum? Whistle? For who's benefit is that? YOURS!

You are your own best audience. Don't stop until you hear the gong.

Talk to myself? sure, all the time... Sing to myself? only when no one else is around... Answer myself? of course... Argue with myself? Only about getting off the trail...

If you argue with yourself and still never win the argument....that's when you have a problem:-?

I talk to myself all the time. I have to tell my coworkers I'm talking to my computer. When I'm walking or otherwise on my own I tend to talk About myself, generally in glowing terms. And I get no argument.

Talk to myself, sing out loud when no one is around and dance up the trail sometimes.

I can only remember arguing out loud with myself a couple of times. But it seems to be occurring more and more the older I get.

When your old enough the argument will be settled by forgetting what you were arguing about:D

Talking to myself is not the problem it's all those other voices that seem to be bothersome

There are times when I get so engrossed in a conversation with myself and during these times I can come to an astounding conclusion or realization about a problem I’ve spent a long time contemplating and at that moment I immediately think: "Why didn’t I think of that".

Problem is, I did think it up...but there’s a small part of me that feels as though someone else gave me the answer. Sometimes I don’t feel like I’m alone.

I've been hiking a lot with my MP3 player and I'm sure I've screamed out a few Pantera lyrics while attacking a big climb.
