First off, it was a good flick but being from Silverado, OC I'm probably pregidous.
Your dog seemed very gentle and when you used him to get rid of the bear I wish he could have talked. He may have asked you to bark a little yourself.
Running water and a commode that flushed still has to be a hair better than the alternative. No wait, paying for it negates that.
You must be an experienced hiker, by-pass the real food for something you like to eat.
This is a positive film to show my friend's daughters who enjoy hiking. Gals can go out on their own, deal with mishaps and have a fun time.
This is a chick flick though (IMO), if you had some Ted Nuggent tunes guys would like it a little more.
Good job, you should feel good about your work.

I carried a point-and-shoot waterproof Olympus camera. It can record up to 20 minutes of high-quality video/audio with an M+ XD card. It takes very poor still images though.

Did you have a tripod? If so what kind.
I have an Olympus as well....I think mine is weather proof but not waterproof.

Does using video eat the batteries faster?
Does it take alot more space on the Xd card?

No, I didn't use a tripod, I just put the camera on posts and rocks and fences.

I carried two batteries, one in the camera and one extra. Then I charged them in town. I took many pictures and lots of video and I never ran out of battery.

A 2GB XD M+ card held 20 mins of video, period. No room for photos. Or less video plus some photos. I carried about 9GB of memory and didn't run out in 6 weeks. Memory is cheap these days. SD is even cheaper. I would not recommend an Olympus because of all their annoying propriatary formats and also poor image stabilization and contrast.

I do get frustrated with their propriatary formats and the XD cards.
It's hard to find XD anymore.

I loved both this video and the one from last year. I wish I could do sections of the trail like you did.
BTW-- in today's local paper (RIchmond), there was an article about a guy who hiked in the Grayson Highlands this summer and he reported being chased by the horses also!
