I just want to know if anyone of you all have ever used a solar charger to keep your iphone charged up. I dont plan on using it much on the trail but I would like to be able to if I decide to listen to some tunes, make a call or use the GPS(or any other app). If you all have used one, which worked the best, where can I get one, and what did it cost? Thanks so much!

I got a Solio H1000 $75 eBay. SO far I've not been impressed they don't do well under trees. THey can be recharged by a laptop or a mini USB phone charger or sunlight. They're not waterproof and appear to be a little delicate. You have to carry the device adaptor tips separate. I'd give it ONE STAR.. bummer too.
I have a charger that uses AA batteries from sLowes ($19) and it works great.

I have an iPhone (3GS) and have used the following with success. There were a lot of reviews that had trouble with such a device but mine works perfectly.

A Solio works great on the PCT I loved it. Kept our Mp3 tunes topped off. I doubt you'd have a good time using it on the AT with something as power hungry as an I-Phone. Too many trees, not enough Kilowat Hrs especially as you head north. Not the most durable device to bring on a thru too. Mine is held together with crazy glue and the hinge is loose.
