Looking to make an early October hike of AT from Hughes gap to Laurel Creek, and taking the spur trail to end up in Hampton/Braemer. Does anyone know 1) if there are any good parking spots in Braemer and 2) any shuttle services from there out to Roan Mtn / Hughes gap area?

Call the Browns at Braemar Castle at 423-725-2411 or 423-725-2262. Also check with Bob at Kincora, 423-725-4409, he is usually out working on trail during the week.

You can also call Mountain Harbour B+B (http://www.mountainharbour.net/) at Roan Mountain (US-19E) for a shuttle.

We used them recently. They were excellent, and not very expensive.

Thanks for the contacts, especially Bob Peoples. I had the pleasure of getting a ride from him from MRO in Damascus to Dennis Cove road in summer of 2008. We had such a nice conversation on the ride down. I was saddened to read in the AT Journeys about his wife passing away. I didn't have his phone number but now I do. Thanks again.
