Extra congratulations to the caretaker of this very fine camping area with the following amenities:sun:

Carefully tended lawn with plenty of space for tents.

Hand-pump well with crystal clear cold mountain water.

A picnic table under a large permanent awning next to the side of the storage building (thus having extra shelter from NW to NE winds).

An outdoor fireplace with a large metal grill.

A large permanent fire ring.

A privy set off slightly into the woods.

You will know you are at the beginning of the blue-blazed trail:welcome leading to the tent site when, at NOBO mile 1,416.4 (elev. 900 ft.), you reach a clearing where the NOBO AT, SOBO AT, and blue-blazed side-trail join at the center of the clearing to create a triangular-shaped patch of trails and open grass. Also, at the beginning of the blue-blazed trail, you will see little picket fences on either side of the trail.

I don't understand your 1416.4 NOBO reference? If I'm NOBO I'm way past the Shenny's and I think from the Big K 1,416.4 puts you southof them.

It's just a bit south of the RPH Shelter. They close the RPH shelter shortly and it will not open until sometime in the spring so in the winter a lot of folks stay here at Shenandoha Tent site.

OK, I guess I'm the confused one. I assume the Shenandoha tent site was in the Shenandohas:confused:
