Just got back from doing 8 days in Vermont on the LT/AT, Mt Bromley to Hanover, NH. Had great fall weather the whole time and forgot how many ridges there were to climb up and down between the LT and Hanover!

Anyway, I was suprised at how many south bounders I meet along the way. Must have passed at least 20 or more. Most on the AT leg between Hanover and the LT/AT junction. Some were flip-floppers, but most said they were headed for Springer.

I wish them luck, seems to me its a little late in the season to be just getting into Vermont...

As I've said before I think there is a large increase in SOBOs this year. I think this means a hard winter, I don't care what the wolly bears say.

Did you see a taller guy hiking with his dog? The dog was a brown boxer. I can't remember his trail name for some reason but we camped with him at Spruce Peak shelter two nights ago.

I guess I need to make sure my section is good for late fall hiking. It also means that there may be others on the trail when I go out for my late fall section hike down in VA this year. Last year I made it through most of SNP without meeting another SoBo the whole time.

Yes, I belive I did pass by him, I remeber the dog. I had just left the Inn at the Long Trail that day. Didn't stop the chat with him or most of the others, the days are short and the trail is long...

I talked to a hiker who was doing a flip-flop with his dog Lefty this past weekend.
Started NOBO at Duncanon, hiked to Katahdin . Now headed SOBO a few months in , will have to say adieu to his dog in a few weeks when he gets to SMNP.
