Walking School Bus

I'm with my 8th grade staying at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, and we're looking to do a day hike to Wesser Bald. We do not have enough time to do the 10.8 mile hike up the AT to Wesser Bald, but we do have a bus and are very interested in driving somewhere nearby to park and hike from that parking area. Anyone out there that can help with some info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
