Im looking for a good 25-50 mile loop in Northern Virginia or Maryland. Does anyone know of anything in the area?

Go to SNP. There's a bunch of trails going off of the ridge line that interconnect with one another. You can do as much or as little as you want. The SNP website has maps to look at.

Plenty of ideas here (http://www.midatlantichikes.com/)

agreed with both of the above. shenandoah has endless possibilities. and midatlantichikes.com can point out a few of them.

The NPS site for Shenandoah has a page with good suggestions as well: http://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/campbc_trip_plans.htm

The Wild Oak Trail is in the book 50 Hikes in Northern Virginia (though I personally think that this area is in central VA) I haven't done it yet. It looks like a challenge and there are no water sources mid way through the second day.
