How is the MA to CT section of the AT in Mid July??? is this a nice section of the trail to hike.....

Great Season. You get Sages Ravine and the Housatonic river walk to cool off in at any time. Awesome coverage.

Ground fires aren't permitted along that area in CT but a small smudge takes care of the mosquitos proper.

thx totem...i plan on end to ending the LT then continueing down to the CT border to finish my hike

Probably not true, but I like it (and maintain it). A good section for beginning hikers. Enough difficulties to get a sense of what backpacking is all about, but not overwhelming. Also easy to get on/off with many road crossings.

Yes, there are bugs, but almost everyone survives them.

Mid July - get your bug patrol gear on. And invest in DEET.

north west ct had frost last week, the biting bugs are done

Good news! I start at Hoyt Rd. on the NY/CT line and am going to Dalton, MA.

I was out near the VT line all day today (Sept 26), nary a skeeter in sight.

july is OK but spring and fall are better. bugs are gone for now. some of the springs are getting a little low.
