Seems I've heard that blue-colored clothing and gear can attract bugs. Is this true or just myth?

Thx,

Actually, I have read that all things being equal (sweat, co2, BO, etc) mosquitos are more attracted to darker clothing than to lighter colors.

Porch ceilings are painted blue to keep the bugs away. Or so they say.

I wore a blue shirt during my entire thru-hike and definitely got ate up in the Northeast when it started warming up. And I too have always heard that bugs are more attracted to darker colors. Conversely, my porch is painted blue. The bugs don't seem to mind.

When I have been out with friends who had on dark clothes and I had on lighter clothes you could see the blood thirsty insects going after them while they left me alone. I never really belived it until I could see it working with my own eyes.

Thanks for the replies. Ok, so maybe I will wear blue, but a LIGHT blue to be sure.

Porch ceilings are painted blue to dicourage wasps from building nest where they think they will get rained on.

Bugs definitely go for dark colors.
