With fall approaching i figured I get this started about the leaves. Was up in the hills and the leaves are changing fast. Really good color right now. Lots of reds and oranges. I figure we have about 2-3 weeks before the peak.

Heading to Shawnee State Forest (OH) in a couple weeks in hopes to hit the peak colors. Can't wait.

Leaves have been taking on their fall colors here for quite some time. Dogwoods, red and sugar maples are now beginning to display reds and oranges. Virginia creeper and poison ivy appeared as dogwoods and sugar maples or more like black gums respectively weeks ago and are becoming even more brilliant.

I don't have many black gums within a stone throw of where I live to watch but those on dry upland sites often begin the show with black walnuts in late August.

Pretty much peaking about now in the northeast, doing a foliage hike this weekend :)

I'm hoping that I could get some good color between Erwin and Hot Springs the last week of October (along with some good weather and ample springs, but hey, I'll take what I can get!).

Anybody in Catawba and south of there with a leaf color report, I'm heading up there this weekend

I'm headed to N. GA this weekend. Any color reports from there?

October is my favorite backpacking month. The cooler weather is a relief from humping up mountains in a sweatlodge. One time I went out in November though and it was hot enough to swim in the creek. East Tennessee.

Not much color last weekend. Should be getting there by this weekend. I think the weekends of the 24th and the 31st will be peak here.

Just found this site, The Foliage Network (http://www.foliagenetwork.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&id=6&Itemid=53), for fall foliage color maps for the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest (no Mid-Atlantic for some reason!).

Black gums a few hundred yards from where I post still sport brilliant reds, oranges and yellows, but have dropped about half their leaves.

Maples are still just getting started and the oaks which finish our display aren't showing any color other than green.

Its getting more and more colorful day to day. The air is so clear up here right now, no clouds, views for miles! I love this time of year
