I had my sister sew we a Henry Shires TarpTent for two.

The biggest problem I had was getting tent poles and Grommets to fit.
Tent poles are not to difficult but it took some time intensive shopping to find a sources for a kit to make my own poles.
My tent poles are 1/4 inch Easton poles. Number 1 grommet also fits a 1/4 inch pole.

Grommets where the biggest problem. My sister used Grommet size 2 for the tent. Grommet, size 2 , are plentiful. Grommet size 1 are rare.
The recommended poles will not work with #2 grommet, e.g, the grommet is too big diameter for the poles. The tent construction directions say to put the grommet through a double thickness of web strap, but a #1 grommet is too thin and small to go through two thicknesses of web stap. The standard size poles are slightly to large to fit on a #1 grommet easily.

I think I might go back to Number 2 grommet and buy new poles for a #2 grommet.

You could just use a washer..

Many use their trekking poles instead of tent poles. Try making your own poloes??? http://www.wanderlustgear.com/materials_poles.htm

Local fabric store sells grommet (eyelets) made by Dritz #660 = 7/16"

Under "Brand" select Dritz, under product, type in "eyelets" http://www.dritz.com/search/results.php
