Hey TJ readers..

What's the best trail journal of a 2004 thru-hiker? (ie, funny, well-written, interesting, etc.)

Do you mean 2004?

If so, check out Einstein's. Pretty interesting read.

I liked Pickle & Peanut's journal. They rated every shelter.
I also like LWOP's journal.

Right now I'm following Tha Wookie's journal of his West Coast Trail hike. Him and Island Mama started at the tip of NW Washington June 5, and they should be somewhere around the Bay Area now. It's not the AT, but it's awfully nice.

I really enjoyed reading Officer Tacos journal. It was well written and informative. Another good read that is still in progress is Lonsome Doves journal.

I found Dusty and Lefty's drawings and comments in thru-hiker's notebooks to be the best! Name came from A Prairie Home Companion's character-skit. He (they) finished mid-July and returned to Wyoming...

I enjoyed, and found quite useful in trip planning, journals by Pickle & Peanut, Officer Taco and Double Nickels. Also, Sugar Daddy's journal has been entertaining. His "default" entry on trailjournals is prep #22 and it cracked me up. I got a photo and a mention in Stumpknocker's journal, which was neat.

I have had several favorites as the season progressed, but my current, still on the trail favorite, is Paparazzi. He has a very droll writing style that appeals to me. I find myself laughing out loud at many of his experiences. :p
