I just think this is a cool idea. There's a great picture of a picnic table being reclaimed by nature.

On the AT, the spookiest hike I ever had was a severely overcast morning near the tinker cliffs. It was 10 am or so and the light level was still close to dusk status. There was just enough fog to obscure vision, everything was moving shadows. The slight breeze moved the non uniform density of the fog around so I got grief glimpses of solid objects before they returned to shadows. It was quite pretty actually. Perhaps it was the fact that I had stayed up late reading Stephen King that put me in an impressionable mood.

From a section hike of the PCT in August. Cold and rain through a thick fog, and windy, through a burned out area over rolling terrain. The wind was howling, and at times coming from several directions at once.

It was if the wind was carrying on a conversation about me, letting itself know where I was at any one point in time.

I of course saw no one for several hours through this section. It was bliss.
