This month's Budget Travel magazine lists hiking the Appalachian Trail as one of 'Five Trips That Change Your Life', (it comes in at number three). There is an article written by a former thru-hiker (Tony Lance) and photos by another one (oh, that would be me...:) )
The photos contain many hikers from this year and 2001.
2004 hikers include: Saffron, Gefilter, Mtn. Laurel, Polly, Scoutmaster, Blue, T, Puck Finn, Swan, April Showers, Bones, Southern Boy, and some others who are very small or cut-off.
2001 hikers pictured are: Jeopardy (big surprise), Groundhog, Brooklyn, Samarai, Teatree, Shambala, Cusi, Julien, Tiki, Minx, and Joker (plus a few others whose names I can't remember.)
The article is on pages 110 and 111.
Oh, and yes it says the pictures are in geographic order, but they're not. So, don't go getting all nit-picky!

The other four are:

1. India

2. The Camino De Santiago trail

(3. The AT)

4. A 'service' trip helping other people

5. A volunteer vacation (trail maintenance essentially)

I completed it in November 2005, starting early October, walking almost 600 miles from France, over the Pyrenees and into Spain, down to pamplona then gently westward along the trail to Santiago de Compostela. I was on a roll and kept on walking to the atlantic ocean at Finisterre. The most intense, amazing walk I have ever done. The poster was certainly right!
