Glad to see there was apparently a good turnout for this event, but I never knew hikers stopped at Allenberry (http://www.allenberry.com/) before!

It was a nice turnout, though I was sort of surprised how old the crowd skewed. Especially give the location just a few blocks from Dickinson College. Would be nice to see more young folks involved.

As for Allenberry, I think they started that this summer. I first heard of it from a hiker I met at the Darlington Shelter one night who had come from having stayed there the previous night. They have a $25 rate for hikers, which is around $100 off the rack rate. They also offer a very nicely priced dinner theatre package to the hikers, which includes an AYCE.

It's a tremendous deal for hikers, and apparently they were happy with the business it brought in because they had a booth at the event last night. They were the only business there. The rest of the booths were orgs like the ATC, AT clubs, KTA, county planners and such.

FYI, they are planning additional events in the future that will include more municipal officials as they work to build buy in for Act 24 protection measures for the AT.
