I received this info from the Fontana Dam PO and wanted to pass it along.
I just wanted to get the message out concerning the Fontana Dam Post office hours of operation. If you look on the usps site the hours are wrong.They recently changed the hours and did not change the site. So the new hours for Fontana Dam post office in Fontana Dam NC are: Monday thru Friday 8:30am-3:00pm (do not close for lunch). Closed Saturdays. However someone will be in the office from 10:30 am till 12:00 noon. If you come by then, just knock on the lobby door and let them know who you are and they will gladly hand your packages to you, and will work with you on sending something back out. The only way to send packages on is with cash due to the office being closed we can not use the credit/debit card machine.
I did not know how else to post this so if you could please pass this on to all you can. I know it is an pain to have to wait or miss a drop. Look forward to seeing all hikers next spring. Thanks Fontana Dam PO.
