I am hiking this section on 6-7 NOV 09, does anyone have any information?
Water?
Weather?
Anything to be aware of?

I did that section over Labor Day weekend, so I don't know if it is still the same but, Thomas Knob Shelter had very little flow, and Wise Shelter was a stagnant pool, but there was plenty of water everywhere else.

Well, first I would hike it southbound, but that's just me. Great section. Enjoy it.

For current Trail/weather conditions in the area, etc., I think you'd do well to call the folks at Mt. Rogers Outfitters, at (276)-475-5416 just before you get there. They'll be more than happy to help you.

Agree. I did this section back in June. Even though I'm a NOBO section hiker, I feel I made the right decision in hiking this SOBO. Definitely a beautiful section (see my recent pics). Plus if you hike into Damascus, you can finish your hike w/ a great Fatties burger! :D
