I had my sister sew we a Henry Shires TarpTent for two.
The biggest problem I had was getting tent poles and Grommets to fit.
My tent poles are 1/4 inch Easton aluminum poles. Grommet should be slightly larger than a 1/4 inch. This size grommet is difficult to find. You will not find them at WalMart, Home Depot, fabric stores, or a hardware store. You will find them at Outdoor Wilderness Fabric or other internet stores selling outdoor fabrics, etc. The tent kit I bought through Thru-Hiker did not include the grommets or grommet tool.

ummm....

I think your alter ego, amarkell, posted this exact message here about a week ago, under the title Gommets, poles, and Henry Shires TarpTent.

Perhaps you should reply to your previous thread instead of starting a new one?

markellag,

For your application you need a #1 grommet to keep the pole anchored in the grommet. Sometimes you can find them in fabric stores or even REI.

However, if you live in or near a reasonably large city. Look for a place specializing in canvas goods (tarps, awings, etc.). Chances are they will carry a lot of grommets, punches and sets.
