Two Tents

Anybody ever see a bivy made by Ortovox? This seems like it could be an idea worth checking out. It can be worn as a poncho. Of course it is made of the space blanket material so that could be bad for long term use. I liked the design of it. Might be worth it for an emergency shelter for my snowshoe trips It weighs around 8 oz. They also make a double. http://en.ortovox.com/safety_products/accessories/gemini_single.html

I've never seen that bivy, but I use a similar one by MSR. The e-bivy is only 7oz and is made from silnylon with taped seams and even a quarter zipper. It doesn't say "Help" on it but I actually use mine on trips when I might need or want a bivy and don't care if it's not as comfortable as a tent. You can't wear it as a poncho but I already carry my OR Zealot with me when it might rain.

7.8oz. Cool.

But with my luck, I'll be needlessly littered out in my sleep because I forgot it's a friggin help beacon.
