Rock slide closes US 64-Ocoee River Gorge Highway at mile marker 17.

Hwys 64 > 294 > 68 > 315 > 30 > 411 > 74

adds 17 miles & 20 stop lights

There is always the Smokies if 411 is open or the Cherohala Skyway. Looks like you can cheat down to Blue Ridge and come back up to Ducktown.

Was this the big Rockslide that made the national news I saw something not all that long ago on the news was amazing to watch it come down.

If I have my mile markers correct, the rock slide occured west of the BMT & the Thunder Rock Rec Area. So access to the area from Cleveland is closed off.

US 64 is closed at TN mile marker 17.

Who ever thought to put a road in there in the first place? Along a nice mountain creek? I wonder if this will impact Zach Wamp's love of the Corridor K project?

It prolly started off as a deer trail and then the Native Americans widened it.
