Beaver

The other day I was watching a beaver chew on a stick. Amusing. Very dainty. For a rat. Was about 100yds from the dam. It swam over near me and chewed while watching me. Then it seemed to place the stripped 3' stick in the puckerbrush at the edge of it's pond. Daintily, above the waterline.

Anyone know or observed them stashing sticks for future dam repair?

I know they are curious, but can't decide if I bored it, or this was deliberate.
