from my experience on the trail 4/10-6/23 8/5-10/31 ... I never met a better trail dog than Momma Bear the husky dog. I wish I had some pics... but on my SOBO half of my hike I ran into Momma Bear again trekkin through Maine right after she destroyed mahoosuc notch looking fresh as ever... her owners were Bird and Limbo... great dog thought I'd give her a little shoot out and see if there are any other epic dogs to be recognized...

I second the motion. I met momma bear in PA, and she was incredibly well behaved, especially for a husky. I've got a husky, and I know (don't ask).

Ran into SOBO Elroy and his dog Astro yesterday near Bly Gap. One of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet.

I met Momma Bear way back in TN and NC. She was a great dog. Here are a couple pictures.

I met mama bear and her owner at the top of Bromley, as we headed SoBo, back near the end of July first part of Aug. My pooch hank and her did the customary greetings and then Hank went back to sleep. In the photo you can see him belly up in the grass. He was pretty played out and the next day we ended our section hike. He looked at me with puppy eyes and basically said I think its time to head home.

just recieved my new atc magazine today, there was a dog sleeping on the steps of the atc visitor center. it was a husky at first i thought it was the dog you were talking about. but this dog was a sobo. what bothered me was the hiker never did take the pack off the dog! i understand 5 or 10 minute breaks with pack on but to leave a pack on while your in a restaurant or other place for an extended period of time. i know most hikers spend a decent amount of time at the visitor center! how hard is it to figure out to take the dogs pack off too?
