Alterations to a Down jacket.

I just got a great deal on a Marmot Zeus jacket. I live in Concord NC, nere Charlotte, and just spent the mornig calling seamstress to get the jacket altered. No one around here will even concider what I want.
I'm looking to have zippers put on the sleves so that I can use it a a vest or sip the sleaves back on and use it as a jacket if its cold.

First off I wouldn't trust any old seamstress to be able to handle down, especially 800 fill.

I have seen Rainy Pass Repair (http://www.rainypass.com/) mentioned a few times in good light, but have never used them personally.

I'd rather save the money and just get a vest, personally.

I called Rainy Pass and they do not do this type of alteration. I anyone else knows of anyone that can put zipper and the sleves. please let me know. This jus seems like a good way to gt double duty out of a pease of gear. Jacket and a Vest.
