My son's and I would like to hike into Damascus (Northbound)
We have 3 days after Christmas
We would like to park the car in Damascus and get a shuttle back to a trail head
Questions- Where could we park the car for a few days ?
Who to contact about a shuttle to a trail head about 3 days south out of Damascus?
What trail head would you recommend starting at ?
What is the weather like durning this season ?
Any activites going on this time of year?
Any other info would be helpful
Thanks

The hike from TN91 into Damascus is a great hike northbound about 21 miles. If you need to ad milage start at Watauga dam rd about 36 miles, first 3 miles uphill then the rest is an easy almost level stroll till you drop into Damascus.

If you want to go a bit further you could start at Kincora, wish Bob a merry Christmas and get to see Laurel falls on your trip

That would be a fairly long trip in winter for less than seasoned hikers.

I'd say starting at the dam would be a good option (12 miles/day) but might be a bit long too. A shorter option, and one that avoids a big climb would be starting at 91 (7 miles/day).

The 91 option would be fairly easy and give them a good taste of the trail without being too stressful.
