I am planning a hike in late March from Neels to Dicks Creek Gap and was wondering what degree bag would be best. I have only hiked the area in June so all I have is a summer bag. Any advice would help, thanks.

You should be OK with a 20* bag.

you picked a time and place where any bag would be great. a 20 below would not over heat you and a 40 wouldnt freeze you. is this a trick question to route out the next holywood movie stars hikin partner?i would take a lighter bag if that helps. if your chooseing. and i would estimate the lightest rateing you could be fine in would be a 20 to 30.a fourty would require skill added to loft to achieve warmth on a chilly unsuspected night of 10 degrees. i want bag makers to come up with a death rateing system. at what temperature will you die in this or that bag for sure.
