Did anyone ever try any of the lightweight thai & such meals that are to be prepared in a microwave? I thought that it might work with boiling water and letting it set for awhile.

Yes the noodles are precooked and dried for "instant" somtimes they are fried. So yes it does work. bring a cozy or fleese jacket to wrap it up for five minutes.

Yep...they all work fine with boiling water and a couple minutes sit time. If rice noodle based do not let over cook though!

Thanks all. I'll try some of those next time out.I suggest that you try them at home first. Nothing worse than having a meal go bad on the trail, although it has to be pretty bad to be inedible when I'm outdoors.
