Hey folks! I have another question. I'm going to buy a new base layer for the colder days in the woods and I would like some opinions. I am a die hard fan of wool! I want everything to wool (or down but that's for some pretty doggone cold days there). Anyway, I don't do much shopping or keeping up with products and such and my Brother was telling me about a wool silk mix base layer. What's the skinny on these? What's the reasoning for mixing the silk in with the wool?

I just like wool. Icebreaker 150 baselayera. Great stuff.

I thought about this product as well but one of the things that I heard was that the seam attaching the two layers tends to be a weak spot so I just went with the all Wool. I just got one of the Terramar mid weight 100% Merino Wool half zip shirts from Campmor for about $35 or so. Love it nice and warm and soft no itch factor at all.

I have the Patagonia Wool 2 top and Capilene 2 pants and that works well for me. The wool is light, but really warm. You will pay more for Patagonia, but their clothing is really high quality. I think I got everything at Campmor on sale.

Can't beat a good merino wool base like Icebreaker or Smartwool. Controls odor too

Mine say this:

Dry clean

or

Machine wash cold, gentle cycle

Line dry

Do not tumble dry

Do not bleach

Do not iron

Hope this helps.:sun

Thanks, do you use any certain detergent? Like Woolite?

Nope, just regular detergent although woolite sounds like a good idea.

there is no sense to NOT wash in woolite that is its purpose. small cash outlay for taking care of your merino's.
