As you can tell from my name, I'm partial to pecans. And pecan trees, so large and stately. Nothing like a big pecan tree to shade your house in the summer, and roasted pecans in the fall. Are there many pecan trees along the AT? Or is it just oaks and acorns.

Pecans are much warmer and lower altitude tree, such as Alabama and Georgia. Any NOGA ice storm would wipe out a pecan grove. I'm surprised they are as big in Tuscaloosa with the occasional winter storms they get.
Hickories, chestnuts, oaks and such were all dropping the fruit in mid NC last weekend. Fall is coming.
