i prefer my pepsi-can stove for its simplicity and wt., but will it perform in colder temps if i start at springer in mid-march? is it a simple solution of keeping the stove and fuel close to my body before stopping for dinner? if a pepsi-can stove is not the answer for a hike in that season, what is another lt. wt. alternative?

For the past four years I have hiked on March 1st and March 15th with the thru hikers and never experienced any problems with the soda can stove! I use mine year round and only experienced extra fuel usage in January and February in GA and NC.

You will have no problems what so ever using a pop can stove in the winter. You will find you will use about 30% more fuel than in the summer. It is still well worth the weight savings.
