I have seen some 6 packs at Costco with a variety of dried fruits, veggies and wheat/protein. I know most thru-hikers need at least 2lbs of food a day and was wondering if these could supplement at least a pound of my required intake per day (considering that when I break down the price, these dried products only cost about $1-$2 per pound. The nutrition facts are pretty good from what I can factor (all of the serving sizes are .25 cups, so 1lb is about 8x that).

I am planning on vacuum sealing these into 2lb portions and get a family member to mail drop them on the trail.

Looking for someone who has tried these or can input their own opinion, thanks!

I know I don't carry 2 lbs of food a day. That's a lot of food. You can go much lighter with good nutrients with the kind of foods available now.

Also, the same food day after day can get pretty old after a while. Variety is the spice of life out there. Check the food forum for alternatives for meals. I also used a recipe cookbook from ATC for my dinners. I still love the turkey dinner one. :)
