Hello everyone,

A friend and I will be starting the trail in March going Northbound, starting at the trail head in GA. Iam looking for friendly places to park our car for a long period of time ( a month ) that is relativly safe and ticket free?

Our goal is to hike 500 miles or so and we are also looking for some local hotspots that we may pass on the way that are worth a stop, such as bars, good food, good sleeping arrangements, etc etc.

Although backpacking and the challenge are our number one goal, we also would like to have some other enjoyments along the way. So if there is any insight from you vetern hikers or locals, I would love to hear it.

Thank you

I would recommend you purchase "The AT Guide"-2010 Northbound Edition.

I just received my copy a few days ago in the mail. It is an excellent resource for planning.

Check out www.theATguide.com (http://www.theATguide.com) to see sample pages and/or order your copy.

Good luck with your trip
