Hey, I'm an A.T. alum (NOBO '09), and I'm looking to write an article about a person who has just returned from the military and has decided to thru-hike the Trail. I know that there are a lot of you out there, because I met a lot of vets on the Trail last year, and it was always fascinating to hear their perspective on thru-hiking after having just returned from war. If you fit this description and would enjoy having an article written about your experience of hiking the trail this upcoming spring/summer, please send me a message or comment on this thread.
While I would love to hear from vets of all ages, I'm most interested in someone who's just gotten back from Iraq or Afgh., because that's what publications will be most interested in right now. In return for you sharing your story with me, I'd be happy to share any info or advice (maildrops, gear, logistics, etc.) that might help your hike be smoother/cheaper/better.
