For the past two years I've been using a Northface Badlands 75. I am dealing with the issue of uncertainty right now. Its a bit heavy at the 6lb range. Anyone ever used a Northface like this for long trekks? Or better yet has anyone thru-hiked with a pack similar in weight.

I've hiked over 1000 miles in a TNF badlands I recommend dropping the extender on the top. That should reduce your load by 8 to 10 oz or so. My pack always looked stuffed, but was always lighter than everyone thought. I averaged on my last LDH about 30 lbs for 3 days food and 11/2 liter of water, in addition to all my gear. The straps are starting to wear, but other than that, it has been a good pack. As I try to drop my pack weight more, I may go to a smaller pack. I won't do that until I can get rid of some more bulky stuff. My .02
