I live on the beachside about 30 miles from the FT, so I thought it would be fun to blaze my mail box! I miss the trail in between trips so a daily reminder of where I wish I could be makes me happy. My 15 y/o son (who has a few FT trips under hip belt) seems to think we will come home to find a tent and and a camp fire in our side yard :-)

Oh wow. This made me laugh. I have seen real blazes in some strange places, I thought this was actually on the trail.

For my birthday this past year my wife gathered a piece of bark from a tree, which her folks were cutting for firewood to heat their home this winter, and painted a white blaze on it. She then found a deep set picture frame and mounted it. It's hanging on my bedroom wall! Best gift ever!!

I white-blazed a small evergreen at the top of a tiny hill on the side of my property in southeast Michigan. I fondly recall the northern half of the Long Trail every time I'm lugging something up the hill to the burn pile.

I blaze most of our town land trust trails with white paint. That way I'm reminded of the joys of a long walk whenever I show up to build a bog bridge, cut a blowdown, or cut some more bushes.

I am going to do that on my mailbox. I wonder how long it will be before someone figures out what it is.

Someone took out my mailbox and drug it almost .5 miles! A friend and fellow hike spotted on the side of road and brought it back to my house. I did not know it had been hit but knew it was mine because of the blaze. Thanks Jay Blaze!
