super excited!!! just finalizing everything here, booked my flight for the 14th and hit the trail on march 15th. cant wait to quit my job and go for a long walk in the woods. i m pretty sure i have everything. just got my hammock a week or two ago, the only thing i still know i need is a pack cover, and i want to weigh my pack, but i think i m under 20 w/o food. anyone else got springer fever? i m having dreams of being on the trail and some nights i dont sleep well at all. anyway... i just cant wait to get my pack on. planning a few shake down hikes in the next few weeks to get situated and see if there is anything i d like to change before i hit the trail. anyone else starting the 15th?

What are you using for top and bottom insulation with your hammock? What kind of hammock? Tarp? I'll be at Springer on 12 March to start a 3 or 4 day section hike. :D

i have a hennessy ul backpacker and am using the 4 season insulation they suggest. i bought an emergency blanket like they suggest from walmart and i have a 20 degree mountain hardware mummy bag. i dont think it is as tough to get in and out of like people say they are when in a hammock. i just ordered the camo hex tarp from them as i didnt want to chance getting wet with the standard fly.

Not only am I also counting down to this date, but I may or may not have a paper clip chain countdown going, much like a kid waiting for Christmas. However, I admit nothing...! Yup, I'm excited.

Not only am I driving my family crazy with gear weight, mail drops, constanly talking about the trail, I keep dreaming about the trail also. I just can,t seem to get the AT out of my head.

good luck and have a great hike I use a modified side entry HH with Jacks R Better quilts and an oversized nitelite closed cell pad and have been very comfortable down in the very low teens you may also want to carry a closed cell pad for shelter use if nothin else- I will be starting in april just north of the SNP have down everything south of there .

You think its bad for you, I'm getting on the plane in 9 days. I'm goin crazy waiting for the time to pass, all I've been doin is double checking maildrops, making sure my gear is good to go, and annoying my girlfriend by talking about the trail non-stop. Good luck and happy hiking!

or a short-timer in the military. We used those little ball chains that hold pens to the desk. One guy started at 400 days ......
