Hi...
I can pretty much predict the outcome...but i would like to hear anybodys two cents about the phones themselves
I own a HTC droid and am not at all happy about the battery life. Barely lasts thru the day (yes GPS, Bluetooth, and WIFI are off). I also have a good friend who has an iPhone. His coverage sux! We can be sitting next to each other in a bar and he gets no internet and the droid is smoking.

Love the Iphone but the coverage sucks...go with the Droid

I have the iPhone, I have had it on the trail from Springer to Fontana and never really had an issue with service until a few miles south of Fontana. Then again my phone was off all day. And when I wanted to make a call made sure I was not in a valley. That was only every 3to4 days though. As for the over all usage it is ok, the cam kinda sucks compared to my old Sony ericsson Walkman phone. I kinda like it, one other thing is the touch screen will goof on me at times.
For the trail? Whatever you get be sure to pay extra for the lost/damage insurance coverage.
I have the sprint phone and the GF has the Iphone. Her phone is better but she cant even make a call in our house.

I have not had many issue with service other than when I was in an area with no towers.
