I almost purchased: Appalachian Trail- National Geographic Channel. Saw it at a store the other day. But $30-. So I didn't. Anyone ever see it? Any good?

I saw that video (as well as all the rest) in connection with compiling the above list. It was very general in comparison to videos 1-6 but still interesting viewing.

Would I pay $30 (again) ? Probably not in light of the interviews/specifics of the first videos: but that's just me...

Fiddlehead they pulled the top and bottom video. That sucks. I guess they don't like free advertizing. :D

Mmmm. All the Pink Floyd stuff it seems.
It's all still up here in Thailand.
Interesting that they don't just charge some money for letting you use audio from pieces of their songs.

I have a friend who's a song writer (2 no. 1 country hits and 17 in the top 100) and he told me that the money really dried up lately.
You'd think they'd be looking for others ways to get income from music. (since no one seems to pay for it anymore)
Personally, I just watch youtube for any songs I want.
They're all on there. So why block some people's and not others?????

anyway, thanks Sly for the heads up.
I'll have to record my own renditions of those songs and try it again. That seems to work anyway.
(I wonder when they'll pull the Bach song and who's getting any money for those)

Calvin und Holley. The narration is in German but all the interviewees speak English and it's a good doc. Checkout Downtown Venus.

downloaded the three tpb (thepiratebay.org) has. Great vid's. I want to see Trek, walking with freedom, and 5 million sooo bad.... but not bad enough to pay for em :)

Good stuff that TPB... ;). On one hand, one feels guilty about uploading, but on the other hand, if the DVD's been out for 5-6 years it's probably run it's retail course...

if somebody stole your pack that you paid dear money for while you were in the privy, or getting water, what would you do? that was your stuff and you worked hard for it. well, you're stealing from hikers when you steal hiker-made movies. that makes you thieving trash and you should be ashamed.
not to mention, downloading movies on torrent sites is ILLEGAL. you are posting on whiteblaze about doing something illegal which is against the tos. consider yourself reported.

I don't know what is legal or isn't these days, and I pretty much just stay out of any gray areas just in case. But I don't believe you can really say that any AT video production has ever run its retail course. In general, I agree with Kanga.

Actually, considering I live below poverty and am struggling to make something out of my life it pisses me off that no one even asked me if they could put my film there.

and this!!!!!!!!!!!
1,356,662 downloads

***!?!?!?!?

I want to share, I want people to see it, but this pisses me off just a bit

2000 Miles to Maine is now available at www.shop.grandfatherfilms.com and through Amazon.

And the 'All Audience Version' of 2000 Miles to Maine is available from the ATC store.

And it is true that independent filmmakers, like me, rely upon the sales of our DVDs. 2000 Miles to Maine doesn't generate a lot, but it's steady and reliable and it makes it possible to fund my other projects. I made a movie about kids getting into kindergarten here in Manhattan and it wouldn't have been possible without a steady source of income from 2000 Miles to Maine. It hasn't run it's retail course and I learned a tremendous amount, both in the making of the movie, and about distribution, from the film. I understand that Lion King is pissed off -- piracy does impact our lives and our filmmaking.

Same thing happens at hostels. Not paying for something whether its a product or a service is Theft. Doing something like not paying for your stay at a hostel or viewing a movie illegally is Theft. For those of you that go around the net and try to watch these movies, especially the movies made by people I consider friends, I hope you get a virus.
