I'm going to get a Jagbag Hi-Tech Mummy Liner (http://www.jagbags.co.nz/products.htm). (http://www.jagbags.co.nz/products.htm)

The make 2 silk weights - Endura (4.5oz) & Fine (3.0oz).

I wrote the owner, and she felt the "Fine" would not be durable enough for 150-days of hiking.

Does anyone out there use either weight, and would recommend buying a specific model?

Thanks-FF

I have Jagbags' silk rectangular bag, the Endura weight, bought it in 2004.

Being a person who counts every oz., I would have liked to go with the lighter weight Jagbag. But I realized these people know what they're talking about, so I went with the Endura. It was only a couple of oz. difference.

My liner has seen a lot of use. In summer I often use it alone - that's the reason I ordered the rectangular instead of the mummy. The rest of the year it goes inside my down sleeping bags to protect them from getting dirty and to add a few degrees of warmth.

I use cool water and shampoo to wash the liner.

Jagbags= an excellent company.

If you're planning on doing a thruhike, or even a long section hike, I think you'll find that an extra set of clean long underwear and socks will be a better deal for hiking: They will
1) Keep you just as warm as a liner bag.
2) Keep the inside of your bag just as clean.
3) Won't tangle around your feet while you toss and turn.
4) Won't need to be gotten into and out of each time you use the privy at night.
And, finally,
5) Can be worn around the campsite (you can't walk really well in a liner) and in the laundromat while doing other laundry (though most folks wear their rainwear - say "sweaty" while doing that).
If you don't mind the extra weight and the above tips don't sway you, it's ok too. It's a free country. HYOH. :)

Thought I'd close out this thread:

I just received the Endura Hi-Tech Mummy from Jagbag
Weight = 119g
Nice construction & fit, though if you are taller than about 6'2", you will probably find it a bit too short.

I definitely would not order/use the "fine" weight fabric for a thru--I think durability would be a real issue.
