I recently purchased A gossamer Gear G4 pack to use for my 2011 Thru-hike. Thus far I am extremely happy. I especially like the ginormous outside pockets!! I also got the NightLight torso pad. This acts great for creating the external frame, but is not thick enough, or long enough pad for me. I am thinking about getting the NightLight long pad, and doubling them when I sleep.

Any G4 owners out there that could lend some advice? What sleeping pad would you suggest?:D

Go my son one. He just uses the Sitpad, and has a POE Ether Thermo 6 for sleeping.

I have one and only use it for hiking when it is very cool. It holds the heat against my back more than any of my other packs.

Have you considered taking your pack to an outfitter and trying to find a comfortable sleeping pad that will fit the pack? I know I couldn't get a good sleep on Nightlight pad. I've seen afew gear list that use Thermarest Prolite w/ that pack.

I take a 3/4 length 15 oz thermarest, open the valve, fold it until it fits, then close the valve so it has just the right amount of air to provide a good cushion.
