URGE THE FOREST SERVICE TO KEEP ROADLESS RULE INTACT

The American Hiking Society has a great website tool that allows you to easily submit letters and comments to the U.S. Forest Service on the Roadless Rule.

Go here to submit your own comments:

They even have a letter you can personalize. http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif

here's the sample letter..

Dear Chief Bosworth:

I urge the Forest Service to keep the original Roadless Area Conservation Rule intact to protect America's last wild forests for their recreational, watershed, and habitat values. I strongly oppose your current proposal that repeals the Roadless Rule and undermines protections for nearly 60 million acres of national forests that millions of hikers visit every year.

[insert your comments]

Roadless areas are important to hikers and other visitors seeking undisturbed, scenic landscapes, clean air and water, and healthy habitat for plants and animals. Roadless areas require meaningful, permanent protections and should be managed at the federal level for the benefit of all Americans.

Please support full, federal roadless area protection to protect outstanding natural resources and recreational opportunities for all Americans. I urge you to keep the Roadless Rule intact, including protections for Alaska's Chugach and Tongass National Forest. Thank you for accepting my comments.

Sincerely,

[your name]
