Where was that pic taken?
Don't know, found it on a weather page and it didn't say where.
Damn, as if it wasn't hard enough being a wild deer...... I hope they found a way back to shelter.

A winter like that is tough on the deer; it's hard for them to get food. I came across a deer yard bushwhacking through waist deep snow on Mt. Okemo, VT. The deer had been eating bark up as high as they could reach (pretty high). They do that when they're starving. This snow had a crust which can be worse. Sometimes the crust won't support deer making it hard for them to travel, but it's strong enough to support dogs or coyotes and makes their hunting easy.

That's pretty much what the high ridges looked like in GSMNP today. It's hard hiking
