I've been using this overlay for awhile now as it has been posted I think before. Maybe someone knows about other updates for Google Earth too that are newer. This link also gives you the option to download shelter locations, but my personal favorite is to use the center-line overlay.

I would download the PCT tracks/waypoints from Halfmile...good for uploading to Google Earth or handheld gps. Postholer has a really nice map system built into his site.

+1 on Halfmile's data (http://www.pctmap.net/) --- I walked with him for a short bit of the PCT in 2008 (he's been doing it in sections), and I used his data on all of it (or at least all that he had complete at that point). I don't know the source of the other data but Halfmile walked it with his GPS on all the time, whenever I had to reference anything, his data was always just dead on.

Any one seen a link to a North Country Trail overlay?

I would suggest the shelter overlay at the same time. After its loaded you can turn them on or off on the left column

Very cool!

I've been a fan of Google Earth for a while now, but had no idea you could overlay the trails on it.

Thanks
