I met alot of north-bound thru hikers last spring doing the Hot Springs to Erwin section and later at Trail-daze. Is there a list of all the people that reached Katahdin available? :-?

First, become a member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy:

https://www.kintera.org/site/c.mqLTIYOwGlF/b.4993369/k.8314/Become_a_Member/apps/ka/sd/donor.asp?c=mqLTIYOwGlF&b=4993369&en=joKFJOPpH6LLINPjH8JIIXPEJiJMJWPxFfLOLWMuFhISJ7J

You then get their bi-monthly publication: AT Journeys. Each year their May/June issue lists all hikers who reported completing the AT from the previous year.

The list in AT Journeys is the best way but it will only have the names of the hikers who report their hike to the ATC, and many don't. The Kennebec ferryman and the Rangers at Katahdin Stream Campground try to track the number of people (not names) finishing and these figures aren't exact either. Quite often there is a report on WB of the number of hikers finishing each year obtained from the various sources. This report can give you a rough idea of how many don't report their hikes to the ATC. If you are looking for specific names and don't see then listed in the AT Journey's' list, that doesn't necessarily mean they didn't finish.

Old Fhart is right; not all who complete the A.T. report their hikes to ATC. In 2009, 543 Northbound hikers registered at Baxter State Park. So far, 356 have reported to ATC.

It's not too late to report a 2009 thru-hike.

Although the 2,000-miler application form states Feb. 15 is the cut-off to be included in our May/June '10 A.T. Journeys listing, we actually have a bit of a grace period. Those who miss the listing will be included the following year. There's no deadline for reporting--just for making it into each year's issue.
