Conditions in Catawba, Virginia

I am headin out for a short weekend hike from Catawba going north to Daleville and was wondering if anyone has hiked this section recently in order to describe the trail conditions.

I tried hiking from Daleville to Tinker Mtn yesterday but left my micro spikes at home by accident. But I tried anyway and just went down to the cement bridge and hiked back. It was a lot of work. The trail was packed down but hard to walk on without some kind of traction devise. That's all I know.
