I dont know much about the NCT but I did find out it cuts through NY. I was looking on the NCT site and there are no guide books for NY nor could I find any guide books in a simple google search.

Do any exist?

The NCT in New York follows The Finger Lakes Trail for most of the state.
You can find that info here (http://www.fingerlakestrail.org/)

There had been a map for "Rome to Finger Lakes Trail" for the finished area northeast of the FLTC zone but the OP's right, it's no longer on the NCTA web site. Here is the Central NY (http://www.cnyncta.org/index.html) NCTA Chapter web site for contact info on that area. There has been a positive development from a new connection completed to the FLTC zone, but also a negative development from an old RR bed section being decertified as NYS Parks opened it to horses and snowmobiles. Maybe one or both of those, or just selling out, caused the map to be pulled.

I've recently read that the NTC might extend into Vermont in the near future. Maybe in order to make that possible the route in NY will have to be changed some and so the maps were made unavailable until the decissions are made. That's pure speculation and guessing on my part, I have no way to know anything as fact.

I think that has been linked to discussions of extending a trunk trail up to the Adirondacks from the NCT.
